What is needed?

We asked Father Deo this question before we visited Uganda, the answer was ‘teaching resources and technology’. We have tried sending parcels to him and his team, but due to logistics and lack of reliable transport in Eastern Uganda these would get ‘lost in transit’. Also the costs of transporting the goods there was very high. Since then, we wire money to their bank account in Uganda on a regular basis - this pays for Julius’s education and ongoin projects, like The ‘Bo Bo’ building. This is a new nursery school building. Nursery education, although taken for granted in the U.K., is a relatively new concept in Uganda.

February 2018

After spending five days in Eastern Uganda, visiting schools in the area from our base in Mbale, we returned to Entebbe. Deo and some of the teachers came to the 2 Friends Hotel where Tracey Wilson and Lisa Brown hosted a Training Day During the day the Ugandan teachers were given seven ipads, all with access to educational software. A Dell laptop, donated by Margaret Stewart was also presented to Deo - this will aid communication bewteen our two countries. Teaching resources for use in the classrooms were also provided. The whole event was a resounding success. Our thanks to Heindrick and his team at the 2 Friends Hotel in Entebbe. www.2friendshotel.com

The new nursery school - ‘The Bo Bo Building’.
It is approximately 250 miles from Entebbe to Mbale - this is currently a 7 hour drive due to the poor state of the roads (where they exist!).
