About
The amazing story of the school T-shirt, from charity bag to Uganda, has been made into a
children’s book! Local author Adam Bushnell has written the story and local artist Karen
Thompson has created some original artwork. Additional digital illustrations and editing by
Tracey Wilson and Norman Stewart.
The book is available free on Amazon Kindle, any donations made will go to Willing Hands Charity.
Here are two extracts from the book:
‘’I can’t believe you’re going to the junior school,’’ said Mum, ‘’we’ll have to put your school uniform in a charity
bag.’’
Kate wrinkled her nose.
‘’What’s a charity bag?’’
Her Mum laughed and ruffled her curly blond hair.
‘’It’s so that we can send things to people who aren’t so lucky as us.’’
Kate still didn’t understand. She watched her Mum finish ironing the T-shirt and carefully fold it, before she put it in
a plastic bag, along with the rest of the uniform. . . . . . . . .
The sun crept across the outdoor market place in Pallisa town. Uganda was waking up and soon the place would be
bustling. Julius and his mother were already there. They were looking for something very special. . . . . . . . .
The Magical T-Shirt is available on Amazon in digital format, for £2.99. As well as the amazing story
and beautiful illustrations, the book also includes actual pictures of our visit to Uganda and the
wonderful people we met.
